20 Best Honeymoon Destinations in June

20 Best Honeymoon Destinations in June

From tropical beaches to hiking trails through the mountains, here are the best honeymoon destinations in June.

There are a lot of factors to consider when planning a honeymoon, but timing is one of the most important. Guess what? June is the perfect time to go to many unforgettable honeymoon destinations, so you’re in luck.

Whether you want to hike to the highest point on Denali in Alaska or spend a relaxing getaway on a secluded island like Sumba, Indonesia, June offers excellent weather for outdoor adventure and city breaks in some of the most popular destinations worldwide.

June is also one of the most popular months to get married, so it’s a perfect time to jump on a plane after you walk down the aisle or even plan a destination wedding

Whatever your plans, we think early summer is great timing for a romantic getaway. Ready to set off on your trip of a lifetime? Let’s go.

June Honeymoon Destinations

Sumba, Indonesia

Best For: Exotic Island Honeymoon

Sumba, Indonesia

Looking for the best June honeymoon destinations for R&R? We think you’ll love Sumba, Indonesia.

While Bali honeymoons get most of the credit (and trust us, they are great), Sumba is a romantic destination where you might feel like you have a honeymoon island all to yourself.

From the picturesque coves at Pantai Mandorak to the long stretch of white sands on Nihiwatu Beach, this small island is home to some of the most scenic coastline anywhere.

June is one of the nicest months when the temperatures on land and in the water hover around 80°F.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 Week
Suggested Stay: Sumba Beach House

Anchorage, Alaska

Best For: Honeymoon Adventure

Anchorage, Alaska

Anchorage is a location for honeymooners who can’t get enough outdoor adventure on their dream vacation.

Sure, you can also play this one as a laid-back affair and schedule romantic walks around lakes and forests or set off on a honeymoon cruise.

But the warmer June weather is a great time for thrill-seekers to check out nature up-close in the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, take a hike through the nearly 50,000 acres at Chugach State Park, or attempt the multi-day trek up the tallest mountain in the United States, Mount Denali.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 2-3 Weeks
Suggested Stay: Alyeska Resort

Zanzibar

Best For: Honeymoon in Paradise

Stone Town Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a large island off the coast of Tanzania and one of our favorite locations for an Africa honeymoon.

Step onto the perfect white sands at Pongwe Beach in the summer, and you’ll know why. June kicks off the dry season, where you can expect lots of sunshine and highs around 85°F.

But Zanzibar offers a lot more than beautiful beaches. Whether you’re observing wild cats at Cheetah’s Rock or exploring the colonial architecture and artisanal markets in Stone Town, Zanzibar has plenty to do for nearly any traveler.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10-14 Days
Suggested Stay: Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort

Aruba

Best For: Caribbean Honeymoon

ORANJESTAD, ARUBA

We’ll level with you – June isn’t the best time to plan a Caribbean Honeymoon. Why? It’s when hurricane season rears its ugly head.

But if you’re set on staying at a luxury resort and enjoying the palm trees, white sands, and blue-green waters, Aruba is one of your best options.

Aruba is tucked away just off the coast of South America, so it doesn’t experience the same chances of high winds and torrential downpours as other islands in the summer.

This means you can still go windsurfing, snorkeling at Eagle Beach, and hiking around the nearly 8,000 acres of land at Arikok National Park. Sound perfect? We think so.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 Week
Suggested Stay: The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba

Panajachel, Guatemala

Best For: Lakeside Honeymoon

Panajachel, Guatemala

Guatemala has some beautiful jungles, oceans, and archeological sites like the famed Mayan ruins at Tikal.

But Panajachel, Guatemala, offers another side of why it’s a wonderful honeymoon destination, with sandy shores under the volcanic mountain peaks at Lake Atitlán.

The average temperature is around 75°F, which is great weather for cruising around the lake on a boat tour or taking a stroll near the lake.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5 Days
Suggested Stay: Porta Hotel del Lago

Beijing, China

Best For: Action-Packed City Break

Beijing, China

If you plan to see the Great Wall of China on your honeymoon, Beijing is an excellent city to use as your home base.

June offers relatively mild temperatures, and summer break still hasn’t started for most local schools. Expect clear, sunny days, with temperatures ranging from around 65°F to 87°F throughout the day.

The ancient city is full of surprises for history lovers, foodies, and urbanites.

Stroll the Sanlitun District at night and see the bright lights and packed bars that make the area famous. When the sun comes up, you can explore the early 15th-century Forbidden City and marvel at the palaces, temples, and gardens for a well-rounded itinerary on your honeymoon in Asia

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 7-10 Days
Suggested Stay: JEN Beijing by Shangri-La

Sicily, Italy

Best For: Honeymoon for Foodies

Ragusa, Sicily, Italy, Europe

Planning a honeymoon in Italy is always exciting for foodies. We love the idea of sampling pizza in Naples, pasta in Puglia, and Florentine Steak in Tuscany.

But heading to the island of Sicily in the early summer is still relatively quiet, even with the beautiful beaches and historic sites like Syracuse beginning to fill up with tourists.

The food in Sicily is some of the best you’ll have anywhere in Italy. Trust us. Try excellent snacks like the fried rice balls (arancini), wonderful ricotta stuffed pastries (cannoli), and rich, vibrant pasta dishes like Pasta alla Norma in cities like Palermo and smaller towns along the coasts.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10-14 Days
Suggested Stay: Casa Nostra Boutique Hotel & Spa

Lake Superior, USA

Best For: Peaceful Wilderness Retreat

Lake Superior, USA

If you’re looking for affordable honeymoon destinations in May, visit the midwest and discover why Lake Superior is a favorite for couples looking for a laid-back mini-moon in the north woods.

The USA is home to the Great Lakes, the world’s largest connected bodies of freshwater. Lake Superior is the biggest, and June offers some of the mildest weather, with highs around 66°F. Otherwise chilly for most of the year, summer allows honeymooners to kayak, fish, and even swim in the frigid waters if they’re brave enough.

Nearby, Duluth has plenty of options for dining and drinks before you retreat to your cozy cabin or resort.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3 Days
Suggested Stay: Pier B Resort

Maui, Hawaii, USA

Best For: Honeymoon Fun in the Sun

Maui, Hawaii, USA

A Hawaii honeymoon allows couples to get far away from it all and spend a few days (or weeks) surrounded by peaceful gardens, majestic beaches, and friendly locals.

Maui is lovely in June, with warm, sunny days and far less rain than in the winter and spring months. But you’ll want to plan your days in coastal areas like the stunning Ho’okipa Beach Park early in the day as winds pick up on the island’s north side later in the day.

Still, you can find excellent snorkeling at Kapalua Bay and plenty to do, like hiking to the 400-foot Akaka Falls, golfing at Kahili Golf Course, or driving the famous Road to Hana.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1-2 Weeks
Suggested Stay: Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui

St. Ives, England

Best For: Honeymoon Beaches

St. Ives, England

Located on the southwest tip of England, Cornwall is one of the most popular areas for a UK honeymoon. Check out any of the 300 beaches along the scenic cliffs and coastline, and you’ll get the idea of why.

St. Ives is a popular spot for romance, with beautiful beaches like Carbis Bay and Porthminster Beach and lively bars and restaurants nearby.

But there’s also adventure and wildlife a short jaunt away. Take a boat trip to Seal Island, and you can see bountiful marine life, including gray seals, sharks, dolphins, and possibly humpback whales.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 7 Days
Suggested Stay: Driftwood

Sifnos, Greece

Best For: Tranquil Island Getaway

Sifnos island, Cyclades, Greece

Many of the most popular Greek Islands are known for their nightclubs and packed beaches, and we love the idea of joining the party on your honeymoon.

But if you want a more laid-back vacation, Sifnos is a perfect place to plan your June honeymoon in the Cyclades Islands.

Spend an afternoon climbing the hills of the ancient village of Kastro, where you can learn more about its history at the archeological museum before visiting the picture-perfect hillside Church of the Seven Martyrs.

Or, if you’d rather have some time at the beach, head to Platys Gialos, where you can relax along the blue-green waters of this idyllic cove before returning to your hotel for a glass of small-batch wine and some fresh seafood or roasted lamb (mastelo).

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 week
Suggested Stay: Nival Boutique Hotel

Barcelona, Spain

Best For: History and Architecture

Barcelona, Spain

Planning a honeymoon in Spain? Visit Barcelona for some of the most interesting architecture, food, and history in the country.

No stop in this Catalonia Capital is complete without an architectural tour. The 18 towers at Sagrada Familia and Park Güell are just 2 of the nearly 2 dozen sites where you can see brilliant examples of Art Nouveau from the famous architect.

It’s starting to get a bit more crowded at the museums and tourist attractions, but it’s also the best time of year to plan a road trip to Costa Brava to discover some of Spain’s best beaches.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Gaudi Hotel

Fiji

Best For: Honeymoon in the South Pacific

Fiji

While some of our favorite locations in the South Pacific are too chilly for beach weather in June, temperatures in Fiji tend to still reach around 80°F. This means you can still hit the beaches and jungle hikes on one of the 330 islands most days of your trip.

You may experience some mild showers, but overall, the weather is ideal for outdoor activities like snorkeling, paddle boarding, and hiking.

It’s also one of the quieter months, so you might just score some great hotel rates at one of the best beach destinations in June.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1-2 Weeks
Suggested Stay: Likuliku Lagoon Resort – Adults Only

Denver, Colorado, USA

Best For: Honeymoon in the Rocky Mountains

Denver, Colorado

A Colorado honeymoon in June is the perfect idea if your dream vacation includes mountain biking, hiking, and exploring everything the Centennial State has to offer.

Denver is our favorite place to base your Rocky Mountain honeymoon, as it’s only about 1.5 hours from the national park, where you can take in views from the idyllic Trail Ridge Road or set out on a hike in areas like Longs Peak.

But there’s also a ton to do in Denver itself. Check out the street art in RiNo, bars and restaurants in areas like Dairy Block, and summer concerts in the stunning Red Rocks Amphitheater on your mini-moon in the mountains.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3-5 Days
Suggested Stay: The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa

Toronto, Canada

Best For: Honeymoon Nightlife and Entertainment

Toronto, Canada

Toronto is a vibrant multicultural city home to excellent restaurants and nightlife downtown and in areas like Kensington Market. And the weather is perfect for a night out on the town in June, with temperatures rarely dipping below 60°F.

It’s also when the Toronto Jazz Festival kicks off, which begins 10 days of international artists like Herbie Hancock and George Benson filling up seats at various bars and clubs throughout the town.

June is also an excellent time to take a day trip to Niagara Falls to see the iconic waterfalls between Southern Canada and New York in person.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3-5 Days
Suggested Stay: The SoHo Hotel

Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia

Best For: Honeymoon Photography

Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia

The Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia are one of the most photogenic spots anywhere in the world.

June is one of the driest months of the year, so it’s a perfect time to get those perspective shots you can show your family and friends after your honeymoon. You know, the one where you’re holding a jeep or looking up at a giant version of your spouse in the flat, white landscape.

But the nearby Altiplano has its own surprises, like colorful lakes, gushing geysers, and the otherworldly Salvador Dalí Desert.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3-5 Days
Suggested Stay: Casa de Sal

Masai Mara Reserve, Kenya

Best For: Safari Honeymoon

Masai Mara Reserve, Kenya

Couples looking for a safari honeymoon will be pleased to discover that June is the perfect month to go. Why? The weather is drying out, but the peak tourist season doesn’t start until July or August, so you can still find good deals.

Horseback riding through the meadows, riding a hot air balloon ride over the wilderness landscape, or getting out on a safari are all excellent options. If you choose the latter, expect to see lions, giraffes, and even leopards on your romantic escape to the wilderness of Kenya.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5 Days
Suggested Stay: Sand River Masai Mara Elewana

Dublin, Ireland

Best For: Honeymoon on the Links

Dublin, Ireland

A honeymoon in Ireland is wonderful even when the weather is not, but June allows you to see the capital city during some of its sunniest days.

And while visiting historical landmarks like the Dublin Castle and scheduling a whiskey tasting are in order, there’s no better time to get out and play some golf.

If you and your spouse packed your clubs, you can check out one of the 30 nearby golf courses. Our favorite? We think a trip to nearby Druids Glen is perfect, with its 2 renowned courses and luxury hotel on site.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3-5 Days
Suggested Stay: Druids Glen Resort

Marseille, France

Best For: Sailing, Snorkeling, and Mediterranean Sunsets

Marseille, France

Europe honeymoons offer plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the sun, and surf in the summer. June is our favorite time to plan a honeymoon in Marseille for a bit of everything we love about Southern France.

Of course, the food and wine are amazing, so plan to sample glasses of Mourvèdre and bowls of bouillabaisse.

But we recommend this location in June because you’ll have the best weather for sunset cruises, laying on the beach, and snorkeling or kayaking at nearby Calanques National Park.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 Week
Suggested Stay: La Residence Du Vieux Port

Borneo

Best For: Wildlife and Adventure

Borneo, Indonesia

Borneo is one of the largest islands in the world and home to dozens of endemic mammals, birds, and sea creatures. This means it’s a nature lover’s dream, so taking a safari in Borneo is a must.

June offers mostly nice weather, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures between 80°F to 90°F.

You may see some rain, but there’s no reason not to get out on the hiking trails or a guided tour to spot animals like proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants in the jungle.

You can also see the famous rock formations at Gunung Mulu National Park, which is also home to incredible flora and fauna and animals like bats, pythons, and monkeys.

Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Mulu Marriott Resort
