July Honeymoon Destinations
Zambia
Best For: A Honeymoon Safari
Zambia is a dream destination for couples who love nature. From the incomparable Victoria Falls (where you can take the photo of a lifetime from the edge of Devil’s Pool) to epic safari honeymoon adventures, we can’t recommend this destination enough.
The temperatures in South Luangwa National Park rarely get over 80°F, making it perfect weather to spot most of the Big 5 on a guided tour – just know you won’t see any rhinos here.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Msandile River Lodge
Kauai, Hawaii, USA
Best For: Honeymoon in Paradise
Kauai is what many consider to be the greenest island in Hawaii, with dense jungle forests offering incredible hiking trails like the famous Nā Pali Coast State Wilderness Park.
July is a beautiful time to visit, with temperatures around 75° and far less rain than during summer months.
You’ll still see a bit of precipitation, but this only makes areas like Waipo’o Falls prettier when the dense jungle foliage contrasts with the red rock cliffs in Waimea Canyon.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Princeville Mauna Kai 9
Paros, Greece
Best For: Honeymoon Views
The Cyclades Islands in Greece are known for their delicious food, nightlife, stunning beaches, and panoramic sunsets.
Paros has all these and more but with fewer crowds than Santorini or Mykonos.
Whether you chill on the rocky shores of Kolymbithres Beach or head up to Paros Park, the scenery in Paros is stunning. Best part? You’ll have fewer people to contend with than other Greek Islands.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Lilly Residence-All Sea View Suites, Adults Only
São Paulo, Brazi
Best For: Urban Honeymoon
São Paulo is the perfect destination for couples who aren’t content to lay on the beach (though you can make plenty of day trips in Brazil for that).
It’s a massive city with over 20 million residents, so it’s no surprise there are hidden gems in nearly every neighborhood in town.
July brings high temperatures that are generally under 75°F, with only 3 days of rain on average. This mild weather makes it perfect for exploring the street art in Batman’s Alley or strolling the city’s best street food market at Mercado Municipal.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5 Days
Suggested Stay: H4 La Residence Paulista
Jasper National Park, Canada
Best For: Honeymoon Adventure
The Canadian Rockies are synonymous with outdoor activities. So, if you and your spouse are keen on an adventure of a lifetime, head to Jasper National Park.
Mountain biking and hiking are in peak form, but we like the idea of a whitewater rafting tour in the Athabasca River. Buckle up your vests and have fun.
And after your thrill ride, spend a night or two enjoying the restaurants and nightlife in Edmonton to unwind and relax at one of our favorite honeymoon destinations in July.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5 Days
Suggested Stay: Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Hokkaido, Japan
Best For: Honeymoon in the Mountains
Japan might be a little too hot for most love birds to handle in the summer. But that’s why we think an escape to Hokkaido and the Tokachidake Mountain Range is perfect, when the high elevation brings milder temperatures.
But there’s another reason we think Hokkaido is one of the best places to honeymoon in July: the wildflower blooms are among the best you’ll see anywhere in the world.
Drive north to Shikisai no Oka (Four Seasons Hill) to see a rainbow of colors roll down the gentle green hills unlike anything we’ve seen anywhere.
Hokkaido itself is worth a few days, with more outdoor wonders like the cyan waters at Shirogane Blue Pond.
Don’t forget a stop at Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery, where you can say cheers to some of the best Japanese whiskeys around.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 7-10 Days
Suggested Stay: La Vista Akangawa
Iceland
Best For: Honeymoon Hiking
Iceland is a great honeymoon destination year-round, but summertime is perfect if you want to get in some romantic hikes.
You won’t find many places with the scenery you’ll find along the Golden Circle with its gushing geysers and famous landmarks like the breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall flowing into the lush Haukadalur Valley.
Another of our favorites? Stakkholtsgja Canyon, where you can walk between magnificent mossy rocks towering high above you when the temperatures are among the warmest of the year.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3–5 Days
Suggested Stay: The Reykjavik EDITION
Menorca, Spain
Best For: Honeymoon Hidden Gem
We’re not kidding when we say you have to be a bit more strategic when planning a honeymoon in July, which is why we’re about to give you another hidden gem – Menorca.
Well we’re all in on a Spain honeymoon any time, but July is your best bet for pristine beaches like Cala Cavalleiria. The temperatures are also still mild enough for famed hiking trails like Cami de Cavalls, which circles the island (but is split into 20 more manageable sections).
Temperatures range from around 70°F to 85°F day and night, which makes it a wonderful time to explore the baroque architecture, boutique shops, and delicious local cuisine in Maó.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 days
Suggested Stay: Hotel Rural Biniarroca – Adults Only
Sequoia National Park & Kings Canyon
Best For: National Park Honeymoon
National Parks in the USA get extremely busy during the summer months. And while Sequoia National Park & Kings Canyon aren’t necessarily an exception to the rule, they’re far less busy than Yosemite and other California parks.
Temperatures do get hot in the daytime, but you’ll find plenty of shade under massive sequoia trees, like General Sherman in Sequoia and General Grant in Kings Canyon when you visit the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3 Days
Suggested Stay: Buckeye Tree Lodge
Slovenia
Best For: Affordable European Honeymoon
We know that traveling to Europe in the summertime can be a bit pricey. But if your honeymoon fund is looking a bit light and you’re still locked into hiking the Alps hand in hand, consider Slovenia as a European honeymoon destination.
Historic cities like Ljubljana and an alpine lake with a scenic castle in the middle (Lake Bled) are just a couple surprises you’ll find in this unique honeymoon location.
Speaking of castles, you can actually stay in one in this 13th-century fortress that’s as romantic as any honeymoon hotel we’ve found.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 7-10 Days
Suggested Stay: Hotel Grad Otočec – Relais Chateaux
Nevis
Best For: Caribbean Honeymoon
While many of our favorite Caribbean Islands are in the middle of hurricane season, we still think July is a beautiful time to visit Nevis.
You might see some rain, but it’s a bit too early for the worst storms, and temperatures are literally perfect for beaches like Pinney’s Beach. Temperatures are ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming. What’s not to love?
It’s also mango season and The Annual Restaurant Week, so get ready to try some excellent island cuisine.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 Week
Suggested Stay: Golden Rock Nevis
Tavira, Portugal
Best For: Honeymoon Beaches
Summer is beach weather in Portugal, and you’ll find locals and tourists flocking to the sandy shores near Lisbon and Porto.
We have a little tip for you. If you head further south, you’ll find one of the nicest beach towns in Portugal – Tavira.
There are a lot of great beaches to choose from, but we like Anchor Cemetery (Praia do Barril). Don’t worry, it’s not that spooky; there’s just a section of old anchors used in fishing boats years ago. It’s also full of golden sands to lie your beach towel down on.
The town itself is full of things to do, including taking in the architecture at the medieval Castelo de Tavira and trying delicious tapas like the octopus at Ti Maria Tapas & Garrafeira.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 10 Days
Suggested Stay: Conversas de Alpendre
Koh Tao, Thailand
Best For: Tropical Honeymoon Beaches
Southeast Asia is hot and rainy in the summer, but that doesn’t mean we don’t think you can plan a perfect honeymoon in Thailand.
Koh Tao offers some of the best scuba diving in the area, where you can see nearly 100 feet below the surface.
Spend your days cooling off in epic dive sites like Green Rock, where you’ll see loads of colorful fish and sea turtles in the picturesque waters.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5-7 days
Suggested Stay: Naroua Villas
Hvar, Croatia
Best For: Island Honeymoon
Traveling to Europe in the summer means crowds, but it also means perfect beach weather in some of our favorite locations.
One of these is Croatia, where you can head over to the Hvar in the Dalmatian Islands.
The small island is packed with things to do, including an excellent nightlife scene in Hvar Town, historic sites Fortia Fortress, and hidden beaches.
We’ll let you know one of our favorites of the latter – head to Beach Mekicevica, where you can enjoy swimming out to the blue-green waters from a small cove with a few others in the know.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 1 Week
Suggested Stay: Heritage Park Hotel Hvar
Provence, France
Best For: Wine Tasting Honeymoon
Is there anything more romantic than eloping in the French countryside? We can’t think of too many.
Even if you’ve already walked down the aisle, the beautiful vineyards, ancient castles, and nearby beaches make Provence, France, an excellent choice in July – when the weather is around 75°F each day.
Château Saint-Roux offers you 2 out of 3 (the charming 15th-century castle hotel is home to a vineyard on site) and a perfect choice for a July honeymoon in France.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 2 Weeks
Suggested Stay: Château Saint Roux Le Luc-Le Cannet des Maures
Prince Edward Island, Canada
Best For: Honeymoon on the Coast
Canada has more coastline than any country in the world. But it just happens to be quite cold for most of the year.
July is the best time to stroll through colorful villages like Spinnakers Landing or head into Charlottetown for some of the freshest seafood in the world (order the mussels and lobster at Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar).
Outdoor activities include biking, fishing, and swimming – plus there’s plenty of hiking trails at places like Prince Edward Island National Park. It’s a perfect place to honeymoon in July.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5-7 Days
Suggested Stay: Slaymaker & Nichols Gastro House & Inn
Key West, Florida
Best For: Scuba Diving Honeymoon
The Florida Keys are a great pick for couples who want a laid-back vacation on the beach. Temperatures are very hot in the summer, but this means the water feels that much more refreshing.
We like the idea of taking a drive down to Key West, where you can explore diving sites like Looe Key Reef Marine Sanctuary or spend a day snorkeling and having some beverages on a guided sandbar tour. We think you will, too.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3-5 Days
Suggested Stay: Oceans Edge Key West
Lake Tahoe, California
Best For: Honeymoon on a Lake
A Lake Tahoe honeymoon is nice any time of year (seriously), but summer is the most fun for active couples.
Want to rent a SUP or kayak and stare down at the granite boulders in the clear blue waters? Done. Or would you rather take to the trails and mountain bike or hike at Heavenly or Palisades ski resorts? You can do that, too.
Head to the Northern California hotspot and see why Lake Tahoe makes a perfect July honeymoon destination.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 5-7 Days
Suggested Stay: The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe
Queenstown, New Zealand
Best For: Winter Honeymoon
Winter in July? You bet.
Travel across the world to Queenstown, New Zealand, where the weather is a bit chillier, averaging between 30°F and 46°F.
Don’t worry; you’ll warm right up in your honeymoon suite, where you can look out at Lake Wakatipu from your in-room jacuzzi.
And don’t think we’d send you all this way just for cold weather.
You’ll find excellent skiing nearby, including The Remarkables Ski Area, where you can choose from 4 different lifts to take you up to one of the acclaimed ski runs.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 7-10 Days
Suggested Stay: Azur Lodge
Seattle
Best For: Mini-moon
Seattle gives couples a chance to explore the Pacific Northwest, where temperatures average a pleasant 72°F, while most USA honeymoon destinations are much warmer.
The notoriously rainy city is actually beautiful in July, with only 3 days of rain most years.
This means you can get out and explore the city, making stops to try seafood chowder at Pikes Place Market, catching romantic city views on The Seattle Great Wheel, and walking around Chihuly Garden and Glass to see the beautiful collection of hand-blown glass inside and out.
Suggested Honeymoon Duration: 3 Days
Suggested Stay: Four Seasons Hotel Seattle
